Funeral service for Luther Wilson Lott, Sr. will be held 10 AM Tuesday,
December 1, 2009 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Tommy Rush
officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches,
La. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2009 from 5 PM until 7 PM
and on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 8 AM until service time in the
funeral home.
Mr. Lott, 81, of Natchitoches, La., died Friday, November 27, 2009, at
Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La.
Mr. Lott was a native of Picayune, Mississippi. He was a veteran having
served his country in the U.S. Navy and later graduated from The
University of Southern Mississippi. He got his start in the
oil business with Cities Service Oil Company in Miami, Florida. His
territory eventually included South Arkansas and North Louisiana. He was
offered a distributorship with Mobil Oil Company in 1965, moved his family
to Natchitoches, and started what would eventually become Lott Oil Co.
Over the next 30 years, Luther and his son, Buddy grew the business from
a single truck and two employees to a regionally diversified company.
Luther and his wife, Gwen enjoyed dancing and taking trips with
their travel club. He was filled with pride and joy as a
husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of First Baptist
Church of Natchitoches, La.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Glynn Chapman; grandson,
Jacob Theodore Lyons; his parents, Prentis Albert Lott and Verna McRee
Lott; and his first wife, Betty Ladner Self.
He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Batten Lott; one son, Luther Wilson
'Buddy' Lott, Jr. and wife Kim Mourad Lott of Natchitoches, La.; step
daughter, Katherine Hyams Lyons and husband Donald of Dacula, Ga.; two
step sons, Harry T. Hyams, IV of Hindsdale, N.H. and John David Hyams of
Lafayette, La.; six grandchildren, Michael Mourad Lott, Kathryn Camille
Lott, Emily Christine Lyons, Cheryl Renee' Hyams, Harry Taylor Hyams, V,
and Hayden Hallbach Hyams; three sisters,, Faye Bounds of Picayune,
Miss., May Necaise and Billie Wilkerson both of Jackson, Miss.; two
step sisters, JoAnn Mitchell and Ruby Nell Walker both of Pineville, La.
