Brian Ray McGrath, age 26, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, December 18, 2009. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Natchitoches at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 19, 2009, with Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. The family will hold a private graveside service at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
Brian was a very energetic, loving, funny, and caring person. He was born in Charlotte, NC in 1983. He moved to Natchitoches 22 years ago and has lived there every since. He was a 2002 graduate of Natchitoches Central High School where he was a member of the Track and Cross Country Team. He graduated from LA Technical College as a LPN on December 03, 2009. He became a Christian when he was young and attended First Baptist Church since he was a child, where he participated in the youth group. Brian was known for his unique sense of humor and was truly one of a kind. He was determined to succeed as a nurse, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Mike McGrath and Kathy Andre McGrath of Natchitoches, one brother, Michael McGrath, II and wife Jessica of Benton, AR; one sister, Mandy McGrath of Natchitoches, LA; his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Agatha McGrath of Nitro, WV; and two aunts, Cathy Johnson of Hurricane, WV and Joy Hayner and husband Chip of Toccoa, GA.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur Andre and Joyce Crotser Andre.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Fund or Louisiana Technical College in Mansfield Nursing Program.
