Funeral service for Birtye Stephens Gray will be held 11 AM Monday, January 4, 2010 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Dr. John Foster officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2010 from 9 AM until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Gray, 98, of Natchitoches, La., died Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. She was a native and lifelong resident of Natchitoches, La. She was a homemaker and antique dealer. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, and Natchitoches Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gray, Sr.; son, Cecil Gray, Jr.; parents, Eli John Stephens, Sr. and Clara Anne Cox Stephens; sister, Pearl Gray; brothers, Elijah Stephens, Wesley Stephens, and Marvin Stephens. She is survived by her one daughter, Patsy Ward and husband Newell of Gretna, La.; one son, Dr. Thomas Gray and wife Barbara of Murray, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Prudhomme, Steve Gray, Kayren Harris, Brian Gray, Dawn Wilson, Melissa Shown, Trevorr Ward, and Darren Ward; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Ruby Allen of Marthaville, La. and Marzette Foster of Natchitoches, La.; one brother, E.J. Stephens, Jr. of Natchitoches, La. Pallbearers will be Newell Ward, Trevorr Ward, E. J. Stephens, Jr., Ray Allen, Steve Gray, and Roy Pardue
