Funeral service for Lettie Carter Hernandez will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Jason Gootee officiating. Burial will be in Rachal Cemetery at Marco, La. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2010 from 5 PM until 10 PM with a Rosary Service at 7 PM and visitation on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Hernandez, 97, of Marco, La., died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. She was a native of Marco, La. She was a homemaker and member of St. John Catholic Church at Marco, La. that later changed to Holy Family Catholic Church at Monet Ferry, La. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry 'Buster' Sylvester Hernandez, Jr.; granddaughter, Monica Ruth Wardlow; Son-in-law, John Lloyd Brossett; parents, Ellerson Carter and Clemence Rachal Carter; five sisters; four brothers, She is survived by four daughters, Yvonne Boswell of Pineville, La., Dolores Fuller and husband Lawrence of Natchitoches, La., Henri Ellen Lee and husband Edmond, and Mabel Brossett all of Shreveport, La.; one son, Harold Hernandez and wife Juanice of Natchitoches, La.; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild; one brother, Reaves Carter of Springfield, Ore. Pallberarers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Holy Cross Catholic Church Building Fund, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family of Mrs. Hernandez would like to extend a special thanks to Natchitoches Nursing and Rehab Center, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, ICU, Louisiana Extended Care Center, Dr. Michele Mayeaux, Dr. Chris Ingram, and Dr. Javier Pere'. She lived her life with a quiet dignity that was filled with love and kindness for all she knew. Her favorite saying was "this too shall pass".
