Funeral service for Lester Vercher will be held 1 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Ryan Humpheries officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM and visitation on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 8 A.M. until 12 noon in the funeral home. Mr. Vercher, 80, of Cloutierville, La., died Monday, February 8, 2010, at Christus Schumpert Health System in Shreveport, La. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cloutierville, La. He was a retired laundryman at Central State Hospital in Pineville and was working for Lloyd N. Moreau LLC. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. He was a volunteer fireman from District 1 in Cloutierville, La. with thirty-five years of service. He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Alana Smith; parents, Theophile Vercher and Alma Basco Vercher. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bernadette Livingston Vercher of Cloutierville, La.; one daughter, Nora Harris and husband Henry of Cloutierville, La.; two grandchildren, Juanna Green of Flatwoods, La. and Sherina Thompson of Cloutierville, La.; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Todd Thompson, Abbie Thompson, and Amie Thompson; one sister, Patsy Coe of Bossier City, La.; two brothers, W. L. Vercher of Cloutierville, La. and Edward Vercher of Bossier City, La. Pallbearers will be Charles Roge', Henry Harris, Michael Smith, Ricky Coe, Lane Phillips, William Sanders Jimmy Phillips,and Michael Sanders. Honorary pallbeaeres will be members of Cloutierville Volunteer Fire Department and Robert Marsh.
