A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” La Cour will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, Louisiana. Reverend Jacob Thomas will be officiating. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. A rosary service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
Dot La Cour passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Dot was born on March 14, 1933 to the late Joseph George Conant and the late Josephine Dubreuil Conant in Montrose, Louisiana. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Simon “Son” LaCour on June 26, 1952. They were blessed with two daughters, Jeanette and Josie. In 1962 the couple and their two children moved to California where Dot's parents and her siblings were already living. There they raised their children and enjoyed a good life. Later, after they had been retired for a few years, she and Simon decided to come back home, where she enjoyed retirement by making meat pies and baking cakes for people throughout the community. She was a loving wife, caregiver, mother, sister and devoted friend.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Simon “Son” LaCour; Daughters, Jeanette Conant (Gerald) and Josie La Cour (Monty); Sisters, Mary Eloisa Shelby (Brent) and Bobbie Lawrence (Audrey); Brother, Joseph G. Conant, Jr. (Darnell); Grandchildren, Jeremy Thomas (America); Jason Thomas (Miriam) and Roosevelt Washington III (Ashton); Great-grandchildren, Lincoln Thomas and Grayson Thomas; Brother in laws, Anthony La Cour (Indiana) and Roylin La Cour; Sister in laws, Severine Moran (James); Clothilda La Cour and Laocadia La Cour; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include, Jeremy Thomas, Jason Thomas, Roosevelt Washington III, Charles LaCour, Sylvester La Cour, and Monty Long. Honorary pallbearers are, Gerald Conant, Brent Shelby, Robert Moore, and Danny La Cour.
The family would like to thank Dr, Kathleen Kautz, Dr. Manish Dhawan and their staffs; Father Thomas, Sister Suni and the rest of the staff at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital, as well as the staff of Natchitoches Parish Regional Medical Center, especially Dr. Dennis Britten and ER Nurse, Doris Robinson. We would also like to thank Father Jaime Medina. We appreciate all the kindness and care you showed our Mother and to us.
Special thanks to our Aunt “Lois” and Uncle Brent, who helped so much in taking Mom (and Daddy) to their Dr. visits and treatments, as well as helping us care for Mom during her illness. Words cannot express how grateful we are for you both. We love you.
