On Monday, November 19, 2018, Melvin “Doc” Truitt Veuleman passed away peacefully at his home in Marthaville, LA.He was born on April 9, 1927, in Marthaville. He served his country in the Navy during WWII in a tour in the South Pacific, he came home and drove a gas truck for Valley Farmers Co-op for 44 years until he retired in 1991. He then spent his retirement working his garden, raising livestock, and spending time with his grandchildren. Doc served as a deacon at Anthony Baptist Church.He is preceded in death by his spouse of 46 years, Charlene Crump Veuleman, and his 2nd wife of 23 years, Mary Lou Veuleman; his parents, Joseph Edward Veuleman and Mary Lee Campbell Veuleman; and his 2 brothers, Tullos "Tubb" Veuleman and Aubrey "Hook" Veuleman.He is survived by his only daughter, Denise Veuleman McAlpin of Robeline; six grandchildren, John McAlpin and wife Abbie of Marthaville, Charlie McAlpin and wife Isabel of Hammond, Joseph McAlpin and wife Jillian of Bossier City, Jim McAlpin of Natchitoches, Katy LeMaire and husband Paul of Little Elm, TX, and Jacob McAlpin of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Carson and Dawson; and a sister in law, Joyce Veuleman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24th at 10:00 AM at Robeline First Baptist Church, burial will follow at the Beulah Cemetery in Marthaville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, November 23rd at the Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches and again on the day of the service from 9:00 AM at Robeline First Baptist Church located 7739 Oak Street, Robeline, LA.
