Geraldine (Ferris) Brice

Funeral service for Mrs. Geraldine Ferris Brice will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, LA. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Mrs. Brice, 98 years of age passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010. She was born October 4, 1911 in New Verda, LA to the late Madison Luther Ferris and late Sarah Ann Higdon Ferris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leon C. Brice; three sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by a nephew, Charles Lee Walters of Ohio; a special friend, Kay Lang Snyder; and 2 grand-nieces. Mrs. Brice was an educator and taught as a supervising teacher at Northwestern State University as well as being an educator in Rapides Parish Public School system. She held degrees in business and elementary education as well as a Masters degree from the University of Houston. Her interests include writing poetry, collecting books, Indian artifacts, colonial glassware and miscellaneous antiques. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches and enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
