William "Billy" Burkett

Funeral Service for Mr. William “Billy” Burkett will be held 9 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis. Mr. Burkett, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010. He was born December 18, 1938 to the late John Henry Burkett and late Teelie Wadsworth Burkett in Aulander, NC. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was an active part of the ROTC program at Northwestern State University. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Steven Burkett and his wife Monica; daughters, Tina Coffey and her husband Russell and Crystal Slaughter and her husband Derek; a sister, Mary Bauer; his wife of many years, Carol Burkett; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Derrick McCart, Paul Bauer, Tyler Burkett, Adam Burkett, Brad Sanders and Chad Hancock.
