A memorial service for family and friends celebrating the life of John R. Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Avery officiating.
Mr. Johnson, 55 years of age, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010. He was born July 13, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to the late David L. Johnson and Louise Dunn Johnson. John graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He began his career with Tenneco Oil and Gas in Lafayette, LA. He later worked for Nerco Oil and Gas in Lafayette, LA and transferred to Natchitoches in 1991. He subsequently became an independent consultant in the offshore and land drilling industry, working for many years with Newfield Exploration of Houston, TX. He was a member of The Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Krewe of Dionysos.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Faucheux Johnson of Natchitoches; daughters, Leah Johnson of Baton Rouge and Kathryn Johnson of Natchitoches; mother, Louise D. Johnson of Natchitoches; three sisters, Sue Diener of Tampa, FL, Nancy and her husband Mike Malone of Burbank, CA, and Liz Gillespie of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, David Johnson of San Antonio, TX and Matthew Johnson of Arlington, TX; brother in law, Charles Faucheux and his wife Debbie of Mathews, LA; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Memorials in Mr. Johnson’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Natchitoches or First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches.
