Funeral services for Jesse Benjamin Rikard, will be held 1 PM Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Couley United Methodist Church on Highway 84 between Clarence, La. and Winnfield, La. with Rev. Perry Anderson and Rev. Tom May officiating. Burial will be in Couley Methodist Cemetey at Couley, La. with Military and Masonic Rites. Visitation will be Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM in Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La. and on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 12 Noon until service time in the church. Mr. Rikard, 82, of Natchitoches, La., died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, La. He was a native of Couley, La. He was a retired barber, cattleman and real estate salesman. He was a member of Couley United Methodist Church and Phoenix Masonic Lodge F&AM #38, and El Karubah Shrine Club. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earlie Rikard and Pearl Bice Rikard; three sisters, Ina Rowell, Izora Steinschulte and Earlena Collins; two brothers, Wilmer Rikard and R. B. Rikard. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dovie Dupree Rikard of Natchitoches, La.; two daughters, Bennie Deryle Rikard Harsell of Spring, Tx. and Deborah Lyne Rikard Gay of Natchitoches, La.; five grandchildren, Scott Dugas of Natchitoches, La., Bobby Harsell, Jr. of Spring, Tx., Larie Harsell Cappadonna and husband Matt of Magnolia, Tx., Robert Lane Gay of Natchitoches, La.,and Leslie Harsell Rose and husband Bren of Kearney, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Dugas, Madelyne Grace Cappadonna, Mia Rose Cappadonna, and Mercie Evelyne Cappadonna; sister, Dorothy Lowdermilk of Porter, Tx.; brother, J. E. Rikard of Couley, La. Pallbearers will be Scott Dugas, Bobby Harsell, Jr., Robert Lane Gay, Matt Cappadonna, Bren Rose, and Johnny Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be made to the Couley United Methodist Church or Couley Methodist Cemetery %138 Lateral Lane Natchitoches, La. 71457 The Rikard Family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and personnel of Veterans Administration Medical Complex Building 45 A and B in Pineville, La.
