Service for Forrest "Spanky" McFarland, Jr. will be held 1 PM Tuesday, Octob er 10, 2006 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Wayne Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. with military graveside rites. Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2006 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. McFarland, 59, of Natchitoches, La., died Sunday, October 8, 2006, in his residence at Natchitoches, La.
He was a native of Robeline, La. He was a former weather traffic controller in Butte, Mt. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a member of Veteran Of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a member of Reniasance Organization, an old west theatrical gunfighter group He was a veteran of Vietnam Era serving in U.S. Air Force having served in Khe Sanh and Da Nang
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Lee Solomon; father, Melton Forrest McFarland, Sr.
He is survived by one daughter, Shelia Baecht and husband Jimmy of Pottsboro, Tx.; one son, Russell McFarland of Denison, Tx.; grandson, Taylor James Baecht; step-father, Allen Solomon of Natchitoches, La.; two sisters, Kathleen McFarland and husband Richard of Natchitoches, La. and Betty Willett and husband Robert of Dry Prong, La.; four brothers, Richard McFarland and wife Kathleen of Natchitoches, La., Joe Solomon and wife Brandy of Natchitoches, La., Tommy Solomon and wife Laura of Natchitoches, La., and David Solomon of Natchitoches, La.
