Service for George Dallam Gerlach will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 12, 2006 in Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Katherine Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2006 from 5 PM until 9 PM in the funeral home and on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 10 AM until service time in the church.
Mr. Gerlach, 84, of Alexandria, La., died Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La.
He was a native of Natchitoches, La. He was a retired general manager for J & E Auto Supply in Beaumont, Tx. for 25 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in U. S. Army Air Force. His hobbies include Model Airplanes, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederic M. Gerlach, Sr. and Katharine Green Gerlach; brothers, Frederic M Gerlach, Jr. and Richard"Dick" Gerlach
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Claudia Lois Gerlach of Alexandria, La.; three daughters, Kathy Stewart and husband Jim of Alexandria, La., George Ann Fuqua and husband Greg of Seguin, Tx., Peggy Burk and husband Jimmy of Lumberton, Tx.; grandchildren, Brad Stewart and wife Danelle, Christopher Stewart, Stephen Grant and wife Michelle, Amy Casey and husband Patrick, Brit Burk and wife Denise, and Allison Burk; twelve great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Stewart, Stephen Grant, Christopher Stewart, Brit Burk, Patrick Casey, and Paul Morrow.
Honorary pallbearers will be James "Roddy" Hicks and H. K. Morrow.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Robert Morrison, Dr. Alexandre L. Slatkin, and the staff at St. Frances Cabrini 5th floor North especially Sherri Rosenthal, Angie Robinson, Rita Bridwell, and Henry Byrd.
