Funeral service for Shelby L. Borders will be held 2 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2006 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. Craig Beaman officiating. Full military graveside rites will be in St. Maurice Cemetery at St. Maurice. La. Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2006 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Borders, 81, of Natchitoches, La., died Friday, October 13, 2006, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Long Term Care Unit in Natchitoches, La.
He was a native of New Orleans, La. He was a retired Staff Sergeant in The U. S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict. He also had worked as a tug boat captain for Diamond M. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Hulia Rose Borders; parents, Archie Borders and Glenda Gatewood Borders; sisters, Betty Truch.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Avis Pardee Borders of Natchitoches, La.; one daughter, Rebekah Borders of Natchitoches, La.
two sons, Shelby Borders and wife Lisa of Natchitoches, La. and James Borders and fiancee Lisa of Natchitoches, La.; three grandchildren, Lindsey Borders Broadway of Natchitoches, La., Brittany Borders of Lake Charles, La.; Tyler Borders of Natchitoches, La.;
two great-grandchildren, Gracie Borders and Hunter Broadway.
Pallbearers will be Van Kyzar, Johnny Lewis, Johnny Antoon, Rick Hudson, Antonio Hernandez, and Joseph Stamey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Atmos Entergy Employees, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Department, Natchitoches Police Department, and Robeline Police Department.
