Mrs. Maggio, 79 years of age, was born in Cloutierville, LA on April 8, 1931 to the late Eddie and late Lillie Gallien. She passed away at 3:25 p.m. on August 15, 2010 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Maggio was a graduate of Natchitoches High School, a loyal member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and a resident of Natchitoches the majority of her life. Her unending faith and selfless devotion to her children and grandchildren were examples of true motherhood. She instilled in us the value of family, friendship, kindness and love. We will miss her sweet smile and mild manner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Gallien, Jr. and her sister, Lillie Basco. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Pamela Maggio Bass and her husband Gary of Bossier City, Kathryn Maggio of Lafayette and Angela Avant of Lafayette; her son, Ken Maggio and Trisha Benoit of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Eryn Maggio Spears and her husband Luke, Derek Maggio, Stephen Bass, Katelyn Maggio, Kristen Maggio, Nichole, Zack, and Rachel Denham; brothers, Leroy Gallien and his wife Audrey and Kenneth Gallien and his wife Ruby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice in Lafayette; especially Melissa, Maria, Julie, Paul, Chanda and Donna for the care they provided. Memorials in Mrs. Almarie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
