Funeral service for Jack N. Starnes will be held 11 AM Monday, August 30, 2010 in Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. John Karle officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery at Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 8 AM until 9 AM in the funeral home and 10 AM until 11 AM in the church.
Mr. Starnes, 81, of Natchitoches, LA., died Friday, August 27, 2010, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA.
He was a native of Shelby, NC. He was a retired Sergeant Major having served 23 years in the U. S. Army. He was manager of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the early 70's. He opened Lott and Starnes Tire and Appliances until his final retirement from business. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He was a member of American Legion and Phoenix Masonic Lodge F&AM #38. He served in the Army during World War II and Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Camilla Wortman Valentine
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Helen Brossette Starnes of Natchitoches, LA; daughter, Kellie Lee and husband Steve of Edwards, CO; son, Jeffrey Starnes of Saint Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren, Tyler Starnes and Kyle Starnes; two sisters, Vickkie Jones and husband Bob of Shelby, NC and Velma Romero of New Iberia, LA; brother, Norman R. Valentine and wife Madeline of Kannapolis, NC.
