Funeral services for Joseph Christian Hebert, 39, of Chicago, Illinois, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 10, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches with the Reverend Doug de Graffenreid
officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery all under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Joseph was born on June 2, 1971 in Ruston, Louisiana. He attended the Northwestern State University Laboratory Schools and graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1989 where he participated in football and wrestling. He also served as senior class president.
Joseph had a passion for Math and Science and a mischievous sense of humor. That passion for Math helped him secure an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. At the Naval Academy, he was on the boxing team.
After receiving a medical discharge from the Naval Academy, he completed his college studies at Louisiana State University with a degree in Mathematics. While at LSU, Joseph was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Joseph started his career as a Mathematical Insurance Analyst with Zurich International in Dallas, Texas. After completing all required examinations, Joseph became an actuary for Argonaut in Chicago, Illinois.
Joseph was a fitness enthusiast who had a lifelong love of water skiing that led to a passion for snow boarding. He also recently ran a marathon. One of his last joys in life was trying his hand at stand up comedy at Second City in Chicago. In addition to these things, Joseph also enjoyed playing the guitar.
He is preceded in death be his beloved mother, Barbara W. Kirsch and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Miley Watts and husband James Watts. He also is preceded by his paternal grandmother, Ms. Josephine Hebert of Vidalia.
He is survived by brother Cade Cox of New Orleans, father Ronald E Hebert and wife Lana of Farmington, New Mexico, brother Jonathon Hebert of Grants, New Mexico and sister Rachel Hebert of Farmington, New Mexico and his dear friend Jessica Jakosalem in Chicago.
Pallbearers will be Cade Cox, Richard Bienvenu, David Guillet, Jonathon Hebert, Kevin Raupp, and Dr. Tim Talbert.
