Funeral service for Mr. K.T. Phillips, Jr. will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Cole and Reverend Ralph Johnson officiating. Brad Walker will provide a musical tribute during the service. Interment will follow at Russell Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mr. Phillips, 86 years of age, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 in Natchitoches, LA. He was born September 14, 1924 to the late K.T. Phillips, Sr. and late Annie Mae (Thomas) Phillips in Kilbourne, LA. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Mr. Phillips was a member of Grace New Testament Baptist Church. He was a retired contractor.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne Phillips of Natchitoches; children, Michael Phillips of Natchitoches, Linda Phillips James and her husband Danny of Lufkin, TX, Dolores Phillips Cole and her husband Dr. Philip Cole of Shreveport, Rose Phillips Halbrook of Shreveport, Judy Nichols and her husband Melvin of Kisatchie, Kathy Leggett of Natchitoches, and Ralph Johnson and his wife Joy of Natchitoches; he was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; as well as an extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Lou Phillips.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jack Fair and everyone who provided care for K.T. during his time of illness.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Three words that sum up his life: integrity, consistency and humor.
We will miss the twinkle in his blue eyes, his love, and his kind and gentle ways; but know we will see him again in heaven.
