Funeral services for Norman David McFerren, 79 of Marthaville, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Marthaville with Rev. Benjie Colvin and Rev. Richard Kaufman officiating. Interment will follow at Marthaville Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Marthaville. Mr. McFerren passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Willis-Knighton Bossier Hospital. He was born September 10, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mae McFerren; and a brother, Wayne McFerren. He was a graduate of Northwestern State University, a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from ConAgra Foods with 37 years of service. He was a deacon of Marthaville First Baptist Church, present Worshipful Master of Ajax Masonic Lodge #325 and Natchitoches Chapter #13 Order of the Eastern Star, where he was currently serving as Grand Representative of Illinois in Louisiana. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vernice McFerren; daughters, Teresa Parish and her husband David of Marthaville and Lisa LaRosee of Bossier City; son, David McFerren and wife Mary of Bossier City; brother, Johnny McFerren and his wife Patsy of Stonewall; grandchildren, Kathryn Parish Gentry and her husband David, Jonathan Parish, Emily Anne LaRosee, Corinne McFerren and Jake McFerren. Pallbearers will be Danny Hall, Jody Woodard, Keith Birdwell, Ted Singletary, Charles Davis, Sam Steadman, Chris Daniels and Shawn Owens. The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Michael Walton, Bossier City Fire Department and EMS, and the SICU staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier for their professional and compassionate service.
