Louise D. Johnson, age 81, of Natchitoches, LA., passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, after living gracefully with ovarian cancer for nearly five years.
Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 9AM to 10AM Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA followed by the memorial service at 10AM with Rev. Jacqueline King officiating.
Mrs. Johnson was a loving and compassionate person with an incredible sense of humor, a fond love for life, a remarkable attitude and she truly enjoyed her friends and family.
She was born November 2, 1929 in Lapeer, MI, and prior to settling in Natchitoches 15 years ago had the opportunity to call many cities home including Indianapolis, IN, Little Rock AR, Dallas, TX, Canonsburg, PA, Champaign, IL and London, England.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of The Lesche Club, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, and the Mudders, United Methodist Women and Fisherwomen of First United Methodist Church.
She loved her crafts, painting, ceramics, cooking, gardening, sewing and all things creative.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Johnson, her son, John R. Johnson; and her parents, Mary M. Jarrett and Ralph L. Dunn.
She is survived by her sister, Lyle Foist of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Sue Diener, of Tampa, FL. Nancy Malone and her husband Michael, of Burbank, CA, Liz Gillespie of Atlanta, GA, daughter in-law, Melanie Johnson of Natchitoches; her sons David Johnson and his wife Roz of San Antonio, TX, Matt Johnson of Arlington, TX; seven grandchildren, Lory Reddel of Tampa, FL, Kristin Ferrin of Zionsville, IN, David Johnson of Austin, TX, Paige Blond of Virginia Beach, VA, Leah Johnson of Baton Rouge, LA, Kathryn Johnson of Natchitoches, LA and Jarrett Malone of Burbank, CA; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline Reddel of Tampa, FL, Chase and Cash Ferrin of Zionsville, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches in Mrs. Johnson's name.
