A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. W.A. “Dub” Rush will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, LA with Reverend Craig Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Pineville, La under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church on Sunday.
Mr. Rush, 80 years of age, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born August 18, 1930 to the late William David Rush and late Blanche (Garnier) Rush in Alexandria, LA. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sally Johnson Rush. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of Bolton High School and attended USL in Lafayette and ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Northeast in Monroe. While attending college he excelled as a football player. He retired from the ASCS U.S. Department of Agriculture as a district director. Mr. Rush was a true Louisiana sportsman who loved to fish and hunt especially with his family. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, William F. Rush and his wife Janet of Natchitoches; daughters, Larke Marie Rush of Pearl River, LA and Donna Acosta and her husband Kendall of Cypress, TX; grandchildren, Brian Aaron of Pearl River, LA, Sally Elizabeth Acosta and Braden Acosta both of Cypress, TX.
