Funeral services for M.P. McLeod, age 75 will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis funeral home at 1:00 with Brother Wayne Hicks officiating. Masonic graveside services to follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis funeral home. Visitation will be Monday, November 29th from 5:00-9:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 30th from 8:00 am until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. McLeod was born April 21,1935 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Steve P. and Ruby McLeod, and passed away Thursday, November 25,2010 at his home. Mr. McLeod lived in Natchitoches for the past 34 years and retired from Western Gas Resources. He started his oilfield career at Haynesville Operators Committee in 1952 as boilerman, advanced to Blackburn Gasoline Plant as plant operator, then began his 26 year career with Placid Oil Company in Houma, La. He transferred to Natchitoches where he helped to start the Black Lake Unit, working his way up to Plant Superintendent for Placid Oil Company in Goldonna,La.
He was a member of Grand Ecore Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, past Master of Phoenix Lodge #38, past Master of Simcoe Walmsley Lodge #359, member of the Nakatosh Shrine Club and El Karubah Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Katheryn Mathews McLeod, children, Wm. E.(Gene) McLeod and wife Debra of Terrell, Tx., Sandra Hughes and husband David of Crosby, Tx, Lori Stewart and husband Johnny of Goldonna, La., Mallie Anderson and husband Matt of Natchitoches; grandchildren, William M. McLeod, Christi Lovett, Carin Asher, Christopher and Taylor Stewart , Brad Calvert, Paige and Logan Anderson; six great grandchildren, sister Geraldine Avery and husband Malcolm; sister Joyce Buckley; brother Charles E. McLeod and wife Juanita; sister-in-law Linda McLeod and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. McLeod was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy Wayne and Steve McLeod,Jr. and granddaughter Jessica McLeod.
Pallbearers will be Johnny, Christopher and Taylor Stewart, William M. McLeod, David Hughes and Matt Anderson with Masonic honorary pallbearers.
