Kenneth “Jay” Simmons, 23, of Many, Louisiana passed away on November 24, 2010 after a car accident in Grenada, Mississippi. Jay was born August 2, 1987 in Shreveport, LA to Kenny Simmons and Laura Hinds Simmons of Natchitoches, LA. He is preceded in death by his sister, Shelley Simmons and grandfather, Eugene Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Rivers Simmons and three children, Jaelynn, Delaney, and Colby, all of Many, LA; his parents , Kenny Simmons and Laura Simmons of Natchitoches, LA; two brothers, Terry Hinds and wife Brittany; and Michael Simmons and wife Shelby, all of Natchitoches, LA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was employed by Desta Drilling as a Derrick hand. Jay was a devoted father and husband. He truly loved children, and would adopt any that came into his life as his own. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was a blessing to all those in his life. Jay’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Services will be a viewing at St. Denis Blanchard Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA on Sunday, November 28 , from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Many, LA on Monday, November 29, at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at the Marthaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Simmons, Terry Hinds, Nick Bynog, Jeremy Davis, Jimmy Pate, Blayne Spilker, Bengie Lewis, and Jimmy Self. Honorary pallbearers will include Desta Drilling Crews and numerous special friends. Memorial Donations can be made to Peoples State Bank.
