A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Ervin Schelette at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at Old River with Reverend Jacob Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Rosary service during visitation.
Mr. Ervin Schelette, 84 years of age, passed away Saturday, December 04, 2010 in Natchitoches. He was born March 3, 1926 in Flora, LA to the late Willie Schelette and late Mabel Schelette. He attended Louisiana State University and proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corp. Ervin was a rancher and poultry farmer. He was a long time parishioner of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Schelette of Natchez; daughter, Gail Culpepper and her husband Joe of Natchez; grandchildren, Jennifer Schelette, Amy Tynes Hastings, and Justin Schelette; great grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Jeremy Johnson and Amara Hastings; siblings, Oma Solice, Helen Newsom, Eunive Trahan all of Natchitoches and Joe Schelette of Shreveport; niece, Jo Nell Woo; and nephew, Michael Trahan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Cooper Schelette; second wife, Doris Henry Schelette; and great grandson, Nathan Chance Hastings.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Emrick, David Sparks, Darrell Langley, Justin Schelette, Andrew Balthazar and Shane LaCaze.
