Mary Bernardine Conant Delphin

Mary Bernardine Conant Delphin (Deenie), was the only child born to John Conant and Antoinette Metoyer on December 24, 1911. Her parents had been married for 19 years and had prayed for a child equally as long, her parents were decedents from the founders of the Cane River Community and her father served as a community historian. It was on February 8, 1932, that Bernardine received the catholic sacrament of marriage when she married Terrel Alphonse Delphin, Sr. From this union, the couple was blessed with seven loving children, Cornelius, Terrel, Jr., Mary, Walter, Thomas, Phillip, and Theresa. Bernardine was a devout catholic and a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church were she was very active in her church community, including membership in the St. Augustine Christian Mothers Society. Mourning her departure, but cherishing her memory are her daughters and sons and their husbands and wives: Cornelius John Delphin and wife Shirley of Natchitoches, La., Terrel Alphonse Delphin, Jr. and wife Lillie of Natchitoches, La., Mary Antoinette Bordenave and husband Curtis, Jr. of Westwego, La., Walter Martin Delphin and wife Edna of Shreveport, La., Thomas August Delphin and wife Shirley of Natchitoches, La., Phillip Delphin of Houston, Tx., and Marie Theresa Morgan and husband Dennis of Natchitoches, La., along with a host of nieces and nephews. Also cherishing her memory are her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Cornelius John Delphin, Jr., of Baton Rouge, La., Robert and Carla Delphin of Baton Rouge, La, Darrell Delphin of Baton Rouge, La., Cherrie Delphin of Stonewall, La., John Derrick Delphin and Naha of Lake Jackson, Tx., Daphne Denise Delphin of Natchitoches, La., Damon Morgan of Jacksonville, Fl., Ashley Marie Morgan of Natchitoches, La., Sarah Katherine Delphin of Shreveport, La., and two great grand children: Krystal and Kalab Delphin, of Lake Jackson, Tx. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Terrel Alphonse Delphin, Sr., her parents, John Conant and Antoinette Metoyer, her daughter-in-law, Philomena Sterling Delphin, and her special friends, Mrs. Veronica Colson, Mrs. Armilene Chellette, Mrs. Catherine Roque, and Mrs. Francis Meziere. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 19, 2006 and will have a rosary at 10:00 AM. Funeral service will be at St Augustine Catholic Church at Noon Tuesday, December 19, 2006 , with Father Jacob Thomas officiating. Interment will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Melrose, La.
