Lounette F. Nolen, age 80, went to her eternal rest, Monday, December 18, 2006 in Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, La.
She resided in Pitkin, from 1946-2001. She along with her husband, operated Pitkin Mercantile Co. for many years. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was also a member of the Vernon Parish School Board from 1977 to l984 and served as board president for one year. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, Pitkin, she served in a number of church offices, including Church Clerk and Church Hostess. From l986 to l988, she was employed by the Polk Elementary School Head Start Program, as a teacher's aide.
In 2001, she moved to Natchitoches, where she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a resident of Miller Creek Senior Community.
She ws preceeded in death by her husband of 31 years, Walter R. Nolen, Sr., one brother, Carl L. Ford of DeRidder, and her parents, Louis M. Ford and Eva L. Ford of Dry Creek.
She is survived by four loving children and their spouses, Bob and Chris Nolen of Many, Mary Ann and Johnny Cloud of Elizabeth, Ford and Rhonda Nolen of Pitkin, and Pat and Joe Pierson of Natchitoches; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her life is a tribute to her deep-felt Christian beliefs and values, and she was loved by a host of friends, as well as family. We are all truly blessed to have shared her life and to have been touched by this special woman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2006 from 9 AM until 11 AM in Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home at Natchitoches, La. and from 1:30 PM until service time in the Church. Funeral service will be held 2:30 PM in Believer's Bible Church in Pitkin, La. Burial will be in Blue Branch Cemetery at Pitkin with Rev. Brian Thompson officiating.
