Linner Jane DeSoto, age 85, of Provencal, La., died Monday, January 15, 2007, at The Guest House Normandy Nursing Facility in Shreveport, La. Linner was born on June 23, 1921 in Fort Jessup, LA. She was an avid quilter, loved to read, loved plants, and was a do-it-yourself type person on all home improvement projects. She was a devoted elementary teacher in Bossier Parish and held a Master’s Degree in education that she earned at Northwestern State University. Linner was a member of the Provencal Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Alice Broadway; her three brothers, Lucius, Lawrence, and Levi Broadway; and two sisters, Lydia Cutright and Linnie Williams.
She is survived by her one daughter, Linda Johnson and husband David of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, Larry Alan DeSoto and wife Jennifer of Seattle, Washington, and Warren Felton DeSoto and wife Svetlana of Plano, Texas; one sister, Leola Orsborn of Provencal, La.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, in Natchitoches, La., where the family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2007. Funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2007, with Rev. Kenneth Cargle officiating. Interment will follow at the Bellwood Cemetery in Bellwood, La.
