Annie Martin

Annie Laurie Martin, 88, of Ashland, LA, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the hospital in Natchitoches, LA. She was born January 5, 1919 in Fairview Alpha, LA. She obtained a B.S., MA, and a 30 plus in education. Mrs. Martin was a teacher at the Ashland High School for over 30 years and was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church. She was known and loved by all of her students. She enjoyed painting, loved to garden and fish, and was an avid reader. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Solomon Martin. She is survived by her one daughter, Bonnie Martin Bogue and husband Dan of Longview, TX; four sons, Solomon Grady Martin, Jr. and wife Toni of Natchitoches, William Randal Martin and wife Linda of Ashland, C. Jerry Martin and wife Sandra of Ashland, and Damien R. Martin of Ashland; one sister, Aline Day of Nederland; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2007. The funeral service will be held at the Ashland Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 25, 2007 with reverend’s David Moore, Robert Bamburg, and C. Jerry Martin officiating. Interment will be at Old Ramah Cemetery in Ashland.
