Funeral service for Luella Rachal Vercher will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Deacon Joe Peltier officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery near Goldonna, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 8 AM until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Vercher, 81, of Goldonna, La., died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La.
She was a native of Goldonna, La. She was a retired kindergarten teacher with St. Landry Parish School System. She was instrumental in developing the Head-Start Program in St. Landry Parish. She was the sexton of Clear Lake Cemetery. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and The Catholic Daughters of the Americas at St. Landry Catholic Church Parish in Opelousas, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kelly Vercher; brother, Henry Rachal; parents, Wilmer Joseph Rachal and Allie Reed Rachal.
She is survived by three sons, Rodney Vercher and wife Leslie of Goldonna, La., Michael Vercher of Lafayette, La., and Ronald Vercher of Houston, Tx.; four grandchildren, Michael Scott Vercher, Jessica Ann Vercher, Amiee Kristine Mahan, and Jamie Lynn Vercher, two great-grandchildren, Mia Kyle Mahan and Maci Taylor Mahan; three sisters, Wilma Jean Harrell of Port Vincent, La., Molly Stewart of Shreveport, La., and Loree Clemons of Minden, La.
Pallbearers will be Jay Clemons, Jeff Clemons, Garrett Day, Michael Mahan, Don Lemoine, and Scott Vercher.
