Alice Massey Rachal

Funeral Services for Mrs. Alice Massey Rachal will be held on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020, at 10 am at United Baptist Church of Campti with Bro. Mike Honzell officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Fairview Alpha. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 9 pm at United Baptist Church of Campti located at 7687 LA-9, Campti, LA 71411. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jay Massey, Wesley Ebert, Taylor Norris, Chad Fredieu, James Caskey, and Troy Gardner. Alice Massey Rachal, 76 years of age and a resident of Campti, was born on March 26, 1944 in Flora, LA to Inez and Alfred Massey. She passed away in Natchitoches on Saturday, June 27, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Crow, father Alfred Massey; and nephew, Freddie Massey. Those left to cherish her memory include her one son, Doug Rachal, Jr. and his wife Patti of Campti; two grandsons, Trey Rachal and his wife Andrea of Campti, and Zachary Rachal and his fiancée Amanda of Campti; two great granddaughters, Alayna and Aubree Rachal of Campti; and one step great grandson, Brentley Vise of Campti; one brother, Jerry Massey and his wife Martha of Utica, KY; one niece, Valeria Shivers and her husband Brent of Utica, KY; one nephew, Jay Massey and his wife April of Utica, KY as well as a host of great nieces and nephews. Alice was an active member of several organizations including International Reading Association, LASE, LASAFAP, Phi Delta Kappa, Alpha Delta Kappa, and Red Hats Sisters Club of Natchitoches Parish. She is an alumnus of Northwestern State University, graduating with a Masters +30 in education. She was also involved in several public relations, program developments, and professional services in the educational field. Alice had a love for teaching and working in education, committed and dedicated since the summer of 1967 where she started as a remedial reading teacher at Natchitoches Central High School. She went on to teach and supervise in various job titles throughout the years. Her last job was as the Director of Federal Programs in Natchitoches from 1987 until 2003. She also enjoyed playing pokeno and mahjong in her spare time. She will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew her.
