A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Anthony “Tony” John Arceneaux will be at 10:30 am Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA with Rev. Charlie Ray serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 am, followed by the Mass at 10:30 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle. Anthony “Tony” John Arceneaux, born October 14, 1922, a native of New Orleans and son of the late Joseph Edward Arceneaux, Sr. and Cecilia Nelson, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the age of 95. The beloved husband of Isabel Delphin Arceneaux for 38 years; father of David H. Arceneaux (Judith), Bruce C. Arceneaux (Patrice), Tonria DeCoud (Merlin), Niurca A. Williamson, Patricia B. Anderson (James), and the late Anthony J. Arceneaux, Jr.; grandfather of Stephen D. Arceneaux, Michael A. Arceneaux, Eric T. Arceneaux, Marcus J. Arceneaux, Tanya A. DuBose (Darius), Nicole Arceneaux, Jeffery Arceneaux (Ylana), and Christian A. Washington (Myron), Gabrielle Arceneaux, Merlin DeCoud, II, Brandi DeCoud (Lloyd), Jovanne Mabris, Johnathan Williamson and Celestine Denson; and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as an extended family consisting of 12 children and a wealth of additional grand and great-grandchildren. As he was in New Orleans, so he was on Cane River – everyone that knew him loved “Tony”. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time in the mix of his relatives and friends. He proudly served in the Merchant Marines and was a World War II veteran. He served and retired from the New Orleans Police department after many years of service. Either through his career or his love to make music, Tony always had to stay busy. You could find him at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Sunday mornings playing the drums or enjoying to play at area festivals and socials with Big Al and the Gator Boys. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
