Averille Rachal Hewitt

Funeral service for Mrs. Averille Rachal Hewitt will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time on Saturday the 25th at Blanchard-St. Denis. Averille, 88 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on January 20, 2020, in Shreveport, LA.  She was born on December 27, 1931, to John Rachal and Emily Caillet Rachal in Flora, LA.  Averille earned her undergraduate degree from NSU and earned a Masters +30 from LSU in education.  She began her teaching career at the age of 18 in Cloutierville, LA.  She taught English and French for over 40 years in the Natchitoches Parish Public School System.  A long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she was devoted to her faith.  She will be dearly missed by her son, John Hewitt and his wife Donna, as well as 2 grandchildren, Anthony Conor Hewitt and Rachel Marie Hewitt.
