Betty Jane (Murray) Davenport

Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Jane Davenport will be at 11 am Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Father Blake Deshautelle officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time on the 9th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Betty, 84 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, in Natchitoches.  She was born on April 7, 1934, to Dewey and Elsie Gilcrease Murray in Montrose, LA.  She retired from Northwestern State University after many years of service.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Brossett; a sister, Lela Dalme; and a brother, Harry VanHook. She is survived by her children, Elaine Garland, and Betty Bryant and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Beau Bryant and wife Jami, Brian Garland and wife Hailey, and Jason Garland; great-grandchildren, Taylor Garland, Olivia Bryant, Emery Bryant, Brantley Garland, Scarlett Garland and Chad Garland; a great-great-grandson, Kayson Barnhart; her siblings, Sugar Tanner, Dot Martin, Jo Ann Smith, Billie Pittman, Marshall VanHook, and Walter VanHook; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Beau Bryant, Archie Dalme, Herbert Dalme, Steve Johnson, Kenny Hammett, and Jimmy Lawrence.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Garland and Jason Garland.
