Services for Betty Ivy Nielsen will be at Ascension Baptist Church in Gonzales, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Robert Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Graveside services will be Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.at Coldwater Baptist Church in Natchitoches with Bro. Brian Ray officiating. Betty was born Nov. 30, 1954 in Natchitoches to T.J.Ivy, Sr. and Pearl Ivy. She left her earthly home Oct. 11, 2020. Betty was born and raised in the Coldwater Community. She attended Northwestern State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in July 1982, a bachelor’s degree computer information systems in May 1983, and a Masters of Business Administration in July 1984. In 1986 she moved to the New Orleans area and worked for Bell South 20 years. She was an active member of Ascension Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees and sang in the choir. Her favorite name was GMB (Grandmaw Betty). She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmaw and friend. Betty was spunky, loved life and lived it to the fullest. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed opening her home to others and entertaining, working in her flower beds and traveling. She was adventurous and made special trips to see her daughter and grandchildren where lots of fond memories were made. She relaxed by her ponds after long days on the patio. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, T.J. Ivy, Sr. and Pearl Ivy; and one brother, Jerry Ivy. Those left to cherish her memory are the love of her life, her husband, Chris Nielsen of St. Amant; one precious daughter Meshelle Martin Mobley and husband Perry of Natchitoches; grandchildren, Paige Dyess and husband Jon of Livingston, Dylan Cheatwood and wife Marie of Natchitoches, and Katelyn Miley and Kelsie Miley of Natchitoches; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Shaw, Donny Dyess, Atlas Dyess, Weston Cheatwood and Hayston Cheatwood; one brother, T. J. Ivy, Jr. and wife Mary of Robeline; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbears will be Dylan Cheatwood, Perry Mobley, Jon Dyess, Kendall Miley, Tommy Daniels and Bubby Ivy.
