Mrs. Betty Marie (Sutton) Moore, a beloved wife, mother, sister and administrative secretary, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 at Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Many, LA. Born on April 6, 1937, to Raymond and Marie (Gorham) Sutton in Winnfield, LA, Betty touched the lives of many through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and career.
Betty attended school in Texas, graduating from Keller High School in 1955. She then attended Tarrant Junior College and studied business administration. Betty devoted her professional life to assisting others serving as a Corporate Secretary at Michigan Gas Utilities in Monroe, MI, Secretary for the Director of Economic Development in St. Joseph, MI, and finished her career as a Medical Secretary at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. Outside of her work accomplishments she enjoyed to travel, visit the children, and living close to her Louisiana family. Fifteen years were shared in our Log Cabin on Clear Lake, where she enjoyed fishing, hiking, enjoying beautiful sunsets, and making memories with our wonderful neighbors.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Gary Moore, and their children: Jerry and Terry Phillips, Dan Black, Scott Moore and Teri Jo Moore; a sister, Patricia Godwin; and a brother, Frank Sutton. Betty was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, beloved sister and cherished friend to many. Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marie Sutton; a brother, Richard Sutton; and sisters, Neva Sutton Darling and Dottie Sutton Harston.
