Billie Carter

            A service to honor the life of Ms. Billie Carter will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2 p.m.  at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Hudson and Bro. Johnnie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time on August 31, 2019.             Ms. Billie was born in Jonesboro, LA to Rankin Allen Gilbert and Lena Sisemore Gilbert and was raised in Arcadia.  She and her husband married young and lived in Springhill, LA where she served as a school secretary.  They had one son, Allen.  They moved to Natchitoches when Allen was young and opened Carter’s Jewelry Store where she worked there for many years. Ms. Billie also enjoyed drawing and designing furniture for her home.             She is preceded in death by her parents and  her husband, W. D. Carter, and daughter-in-law, Ruth Monk Carter.             She is survived by her son, Allen Carter; cousins, Kathleen Gilbert Buchanan of Texarkana, AR, James Robert “Jimmy” Gilbert of Shreveport, LA,  Paula Albright of Grand Prairie, TX, and Kurt Goff of Shreveport, LA.
