After a short illness, Billie Faye Delrie passed away early on the morning of Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Oaks Care Center.
Billie was life-long resident of the Cloutierville, LA area. She dearly loved her family, friends, pets, country music, flowers, cooking, baking, her Catholic faith and her Lord Jesus. She always had a smile for anyone, friend or stranger. There wasn’t anything more than she enjoyed than to prepare a great meal for family and guests, as anyone who ever shared a bowl of gumbo or soup with a slice of her delicious hot cornbread, could attest to. Her greatest joy always was centered by the care for her family.
Those left to share her beautiful memory are her sons, James Lacy Delrie and partner Linda Brimmer of Holloway, LA; Tommy L. Delrie and wife Pam of Ball, LA; grandsons David Delrie of Austin, TX and Aaron Delrie of West Monroe, LA; and sister Toni Tate of Marshall, MN. Also, her nieces Marilyn Hester, Nelda Terrell, Thelma Tate, Tina Zeug, Doretha Spurgeon and Glenda Lowe; and nephew Maxie Delrie with lots of family and friends who affectionately knew her as “Aunt Bill” will remain to carry on her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years James “Cliff” Delrie; her father John Adrian Vercher, her mother Thelma Rachal Vercher; her step-mother Melissa Nichols; her favorite uncle, who was like her 2nd father, Herbert “Batch” Vercher; her sisters Gloria June Spivey and Barbara Vercher; her nephew, John A. Vercher; and her very best friend Thelma Coutee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville with Rev. Joy Antony serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Cemetery in Chopin, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday January 24th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include David Delrie, Aaron Delrie, Monty Hester, Maxie Delrie, Brent Merkle and Doyle White.
A special thanks to the aides, nurses, and staff of the Oaks Care Center, who gave Billie such kind and attentive support. Thanks to the staff with Guardian Hospice Care for their care and guidance.
She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. A brighter light on this earth has never shone.
The Lord Is my light and my salvation,
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life,
Of whom shall I be afraid?
For you Lord have delivered me from death,
My eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
That I may walk before the Lord,
In the land of the living.
