Funeral services for Billy “Bill” Lewis will be held at 10 am Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Arron McGuffee officiating. Burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery near Ashland, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, April 5th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Bill, 91 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on March 23, 1931 to Claude Melvin Lewis and Olivia West Lewis in Connerville, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, Tommy Lewis and Michael Lewis and a grandson, Matthew Oliver. Bill was a bus driver for 44 years. Thirty-one years was spent driving for Trailways Bus Lines and the remaining years were spent as a charter driver. He truly was a people person and cared for all he came into contact with over his many years of service. He would help anyone in need even if it meant sacrificing his own needs. He attended church at Trinity Baptist Church in Natchitoches and made so many lasting relationships with his church family. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Mobley Lewis; children, Spencer Lewis, Geneva Weller and Steve Moore; grandchildren, Melanie Martin, Joel Oliver, and Jessie Lewis; two brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from the Lewis and Mobley families that dearly loved him. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to their neighbors who would help Bill whenever a need would arise. A special thanks to nurses Leah, Robin, and Halie who went above and beyond in caring for Bill during a difficult time. May God bless each of you in a special way.
