A Mass of Christian Burial for Cannon E. Paddie will be held at 1 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Gorum, LA with Rev. Peter Faulk serving as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gorum Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 am on Thursday, December 21st at the Catholic Church Hall in Gorum.
Cannon, 55 years of age and a resident of Big Spring, TX, passed away on December 15, 2023. He was born on February 2, 1968 in Alexandria, LA to John Lester Paddie and Clara Francis Basco Paddie. Cannon proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1988 at the rank of Specialist 4. In 1994, he completed his commitment to his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Cannon earned a history degree from NSU in 2007 and was a social studies teacher for Big Spring Independent School District in Texas. He was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan, but above all he was a dedicated husband, father and Paw Paw. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Francis McDaniel and her husband, William McDaniel (who treated Cannon like he was his son), and his father, John Lester Paddie.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Trina Cantu Paddie; children, Catherine Keel and husband Adam, Carmen Chavez and husband Juan, Sr., Caleb Paddie and Craig Paddie; siblings, Clara Coutee, Carmello Casciari, Catherine McDaniel, Craig Jones and Ermunda Yazdani; a close friend and cousin, Eric Basco; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a blessed Paw Paw to Jayden, Kaydence, Amrah Leyna, Gabriella, Grady, Casen, Austyn, Juan, Jr., Jose', Julian, and Jolene.
