A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Carol Grace Ryan will be at 3 pm Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches with Rev. Doug deGraffenreid officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 pm until service time on Sunday the 17th at First United Methodist Church located at 411 2nd Street, Natchitoches, LA 71457. Carol, 76 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born on July 12, 1942, to William VanNostrand Grace and Ada Carol Bliss Grace in Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carol was a beautiful person both outside and inside and her sweet disposition made it easy for people to be her friend. She enjoyed attending Couples Too Sunday School Class at First Baptist with Don Gates. A member of P.E.O., she enjoyed serving her community. For many years she worked at Fisher’s, Posey’s, Mason Salter’s and ultimately retired with City Court of Natchitoches. Above all things that she actively participated, none compared to the involvement in her grandchildren’s lives. She attended every activity and was so very proud of their accomplishments. She deeply loved everyone in her family but always had a special bond with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered as a compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cathlynn Brown and husband Mike of Natchitoches and Kelli Baquero and husband Ashley of Chapel Hill, NC; a brother, Van Grace and wife Anna of Washington Crossing, PA; the father of her children, Don Ryan and a dear and close companion, Don Gates. Her grandchildren that brought her so much joy, William Brown, Matthew Brown, Madison Brown, Ryan Baquero and Patrick Baquero; as well as a niece and nephews, Will Grace and companion Marjorie Rijo, Laurin Sharp and husband Mike, and Kylan Grace. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Natchitoches and Natchitoches Community Care, especially Myeshia, Thelma and Carrie; and to Tena at Natchitoches Assisted Living. Your care for Carol during such a difficult time will always be appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Carol’s name to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
