Funeral services to honor the life of Charles Dewayne LaCaze will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 10 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 7 pm. Charles Dewayne LaCaze was born on July 27, 1965 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Charles W. LaCaze and Margaret White LaCaze. He passed away on May 25, 2021 in Natchitoches, LA with his family by his side. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Dowden; step-father, Charlie Dowden; brother, Richard “Ricky” LaCaze and his wife Lisa; his niece Hannah Possoit and her husband Lane; a great-niece, Karley; and a nephew, Raylan LaCaze. Dewayne is preceded in death by his father, Charles W. LaCaze; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. LaCaze; and maternal grandparents, Ambrose and Jessie White. Dewayne graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in 1983, attended Northwestern State University and earned a Master’s degree in History. Over the years he worked at various jobs, such as P & C Drugs and Holiday Inn. His true love was using his time educating children and young adults. He won Teacher of the Year in 2012 and received several other certificates of appreciation throughout his career. Dewayne loved spending time with his long-life friend, Jean Marie. They enjoyed watching movies and cooking dinner together. He was a great cook and did some catering jobs from time to time. He loved old music and old movies. He was a good friend to many and was often described as fun, lovable, and one of a kind. He will be missed by all that knew him. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael White, Darrell Hickman, Raylan LaCaze, Lane Possoit, David Carnahan, Joey Bennet, Stacey Grant, and Jamey Robertson.
