Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with a 6:00 PM rosary on Friday, February 10, 2023. Friends and family may attend a visitation at First Baptist Church in Natchitoches on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. A funeral service, officiated by Brother Tommy Rush, will follow at 10:00 AM to honor the life of Mr. Charles Andrew LaCaze, Sr. Interment will take place at Fern Park. Charles Andrew LaCaze, 74, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas. A Natchitoches Native, #29 retired after 33 years of dedicated service with the City of Natchitoches. As a proud Army Veteran, Charles served his country selflessly in Vietnam. With his devoted dancing partner by his side, Charles left the dance floor for the final time. Leaving a legacy of never giving up, dancing through the night, and cherishing every moment, truly living Life “Poppy Strong”. Charles was a friend to all, a never-sayer of the word no, a champion both for his family and to his family. He would have lived forever to avoid our pain if he could have. A hero to many, a hellion to some, an inspiration to all, with his generous way of living in how he loved, how he lived, and how he fought for his family with rhythm in his spirit and swag in his soul, he danced his way to heaven with each unselfish, unlimited, and often unknown deliberate desire to help others. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mrs. Linda Martin LaCaze of Natchitoches; his proud children, Charles Andrew LaCaze Jr of Carencro; Kerry Dene’ LaCaze Dauzat and husband David of Lafayette, Jamie Shirley and husband Ryan of Provencal; Kayla Dunagan and husband Kyle of Natchitoches; his grateful grandchildren, Aaron Wise of Alexandria, Jackson and Jonah Dauzat of Lafayette, Paige and Lance Shirley of Provencal, Weston and Whitni Dunagan of Natchitoches, and Tiffani Barkley of Farmerville; his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Fisher Barkley of Farmerville and Addilyn Wise of Alexandria; his supportive siblings, Mary Leach and husband Hester of Natchitoches, Doris Mitchell and husband Douglas of Natchitoches, Helen Presley and husband Carroll of Bellwood, Sue Desadier of Natchitoches, and John LaCaze and wife Laura of Coushatta, and a host of nieces and nephews. Those already there to welcome him home are his parents, Andres LaCaze and Florence Kerry LaCaze; his siblings Louis Andres LaCaze, James Linwood LaCaze, and Terry Joseph Clifton LaCaze; the mother of his children, Barbra Anne Fair LaCaze; and his children; Rhea Anne Wise and Jeffrey Dewayne Fair Walker. Pallbearers include: Michael Mitchell, Clark Averett, Tyler Megason, Louis Williams, Mike Webb, and Shannon Fair Honorary Pallbearers include Jackson Dauzat, Lance Shirley, Weston Dunagan, Jonah Dauzat, DeWayne Steadman, and Warren Massia. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their unlimited amount of support and prayers during this difficult time. A special thank you to Dr. Amado Zurita and staff at MD Anderson, Dr. Loren Smith and Dr. Gerard Henry, both of Willis Knighton, and those incredible people working so tirelessly to ensure his comfort and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles Lacaze's name to St. Jude, MD Anderson, or Wounded Warriors Project. As Heaven needed our Hero, may we all be blessed to live life “Poppy Strong”.
