Graveside service for Mrs. Clovis Whitehead will be held at 10 am Sunday, May 22, 2022 at New Cedron Cemetery in Vowells Mill, LA with Kay Bedgood officiating. Clovis, 84 years of age and a resident of Vowells Mill, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Natchitoches. She was born on November 12, 1937 to T.J. Byrd and Bertha Tynes Byrd in Natchitoches. She worked for over 20 years in school cafeterias with the Natchitoches Parish School System. She absolutely loved children and volunteered her time at Westside Baptist Church in the children’s ministry department. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, David Whitehead, Donny Whitehead and wife Colleen, and Cynthia Slaughter and husband Lovell; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Melody, Cliff and wife Cassandra, Thomas and wife Melissa, Dana and husband Daniel, Sarah and husband Tim, Jesse, Molly and husband Jordan, Fawn and fiancé Sam, Linda, Ann, and Lou; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Camryn, Callee, Carizma, Paisley, Peyton, Cole, Hunter, Kennedy, Kellen, Kayden, Davian, Levi, Kayne, Avery, Evan, Kayla, Phillip, Jason, Dustin, and Adam; sisters, Doris Bynog and Glenda Fenison; and two special friends that she talked on the phone with for countless hours, Elaine Gourdon and Etoile Jones; a special niece that she considered to be her sister, Juanita Howell; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. and Bertha Byrd; siblings, Virginia Rhodes, T.J. Byrd, Jr., Quinton Byrd, Huey Byrd, and Iris Byrd; and a daughter in law, Mandy Whitehead. A special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches, the staff at Community Care, and the staff at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for providing exceptional care during such a difficult time. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include her sons, David and Donny; and her grandsons, Christopher, Cliff, Thomas and Jesse.
