D’Ann Evon Potts, 74 years of age and a long-time resident of Metairie, LA, passed away on April 23, 2021 in Natchitoches, LA. D’Ann was born on September 21, 1946 to William Clarence Potts and Elizabeth Hines Potts at a military hospital in the Panama Canal Zone. Her formative years were spent traveling because her father was a pilot in the U.S. Navy. They spent time in Argentina and many different Naval bases across the United States. She was a very talented artist and was a graduate of the John McCrady Art School in New Orleans, LA. One of her first jobs was with D.H. Holmes department stores in New Orleans, where she worked as a commercial artist in the advertising department. She later held the same position with Dillard’s Department Store but ultimately retired from the Times Picayune after better than 10 years in the newspaper’s advertising department. In her later years, she moved to Natchitoches to be closer to family. D’Ann is survived by her sister, Janet Flynn; nieces, Kelly Flynn Hines and husband Owen, and Jennifer Flynn Galey and husband Chris; great nephews, Aidan and Tucker Hines; a great niece Addison Galey; and a cousin, Charlotte Hines. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Thomas Bradford Flynn.
