Funeral service for David Cox will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, October 18, 2019, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. John Karle officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be Friday, October 18th from 10 AM until service time at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 305 Royal Street, Natchitoches, LA 71457. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Steve Couvillion, Steven Morrison, Craig Burkhalter, Alton Burkhalter, Stephen Burkhalter, and Ethan Burkhalter. Louis David Cox, 64 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches passed away on October 13, 2019, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born on November 20, 1954, to Louis W. Cox and Mary Catherine Saucier Cox in Natchitoches. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father in law, Alton Burkhalter. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amy Burkhalter Cox; daughters, Ginger Couvillion and husband Steve of Gulf Breeze, FL and Holly Morrison and husband Steven of Natchitoches; a sister, Linda Kay Cox of Shreveport; and mother in law, Joyce Burkhalter of Natchitoches. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Gwennie Couvillion, Bella Couvillion, Rosie Couvillion, Abbie Couvillion, Kimberly Anslem, and Christopher Morrison. David attended and graduated from Riverdale Academy, where he excelled at basketball. He worked at the Paper Mill in Campti, LA and had over 40 years of service. He truly loved and respected all of his co-workers at the Mill. Deeply rooted in his faith, he enjoyed attending and was a long-time member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. An avid LSU fan, he enjoyed watching every sport. David had an adventurous spirit and once went ice fishing in Minnesota for 5 days. Over the course of the trip, he was the only one that caught a fish. His grandchildren were his heart, he loved all of them equally and they brought him so much joy. He will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
