Doris Louise Freeman

Doris Louise Colston Freeman was born October 5, 1936. She entered into eternal rest April 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernice and Lois Colston, brother Donald Colston, husband Ray Freeman, and daughter Sheila Freeman. Doris was a homemaker who also worked many years in the deli at Dixie Dandy grocery store and as the breakfast host at the Holiday Inn Express in Natchitoches. She was a great cook who fed a lot of people through the years. She was loved by everyone that came into contact with. Doris loved the lord and kept those she loved covered in her prayers. “Darcy” or “Mermaw” as she was called by her grands, loved to read, visit the mountains of Arkansas, and spending time with and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her three grandchildren: Jeremy Miller and wife Amanda of Natchitoches, Melissa Thompson and husband Brandon of Natchitoches, and Jessica Miller of Robeline. She also had five great grandchildren: Brittany, Logan, Jacob, and Evie Miller of Natchitoches and Riley Hagle of Robeline. She had one great, great grandchild Lily Johns.

Funeral services will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on Friday April 12^th. Visitation is at 10am with services following at 11am officiated by Reverend Matthew Pagels. Interment will follow at Lambertown Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Miller, Gary Miller, Pat Miller, Brandon Thompson, Jim Henry, and Billy Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Logan Miller, Leonard Niette, Charles Ocon, and Billy Ocon.

The family gives special thanks to her caretakers at Natchitoches Community Care and Hospice of Natchitoches. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
