Doris Rachal Metoyer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris Metoyer will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2019, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA with Rev. Charlie Ray serving as celebrant.  Entombment will follow after the Mass in the St. Augustine Catholic Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Doris Metoyer, 105 years of age, was born on March 25, 1914, in Cloutierville, La to Emilie Metoyer and Louis Virgor Rachal. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church along with her 4 brothers and 2 sisters Leo Rachal, Eldwin Brlino Rachal, Onel Louis Rachal, Raymond Oreman Rachal, Orean Rachal, and Hazel Rachal. After the passing of her beloved mother, Emilie, her father Louis, remarried Amelia Rachal “Monies” and 3 more brothers were added, Sidney Daniel Rachal, John Vigor Rachal, and Herman Rachal. Later Doris Metoyer would find herself married to Ernest Metoyer with 3 children of their own, Theresa Metoyer, Helen Marie Metoyer Llorens, and James Ernest Metoyer, Jr. She met no stranger, with a closed arm she always had coffee and biscuits made, coconut cake and chicken rice and gravy. She always had a garden full of hot peppers, tomato and loved her jasmines and gardenia flowers. She also served as a Christian mother for 50 plus years as an attendee for St. Augustine Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Emile and Vigor Rachal, brothers and sisters Leo Rachal, Eldwin Brlino Rachal, Onel Louis Rachal, Raymond Oreman Rachal, Orean Rachal, and Hazel Rachal; as well as two great-great grandchildren, Cheyenne Metoyer/Jackson and Meesion Metoyer /Hanna. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Marie Metoyer LLorens and son, James Ernest Metoyer, Jr.; as well as eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
