Funeral services to honor the life of Dorothy Mae Gordy will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Honzell officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.

Dorothy Mae Gordy, who graced this world with her presence on September 24, 1931, was born to George Wesley Knight and Jennie Ford Knight in Bastrop, L, transitioned peacefully at her residence on December 14, 2024. She was a treasured mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a profound legacy of love that will continue to resonate within her family.

Dorothy is survived by her five devoted daughters, Rachel Hardin, Terrie Sebren, Janet Overly, Sonya Yeglin, and Pat Griffith. She was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense happiness and fulfillment.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Gordy; her parents, Wes and Jennie Knight; her brothers, Fred Knight, Ralph Knight, Bill Knight, and Charles Knight; one child, Gerald Gordy; and one grandchild, Spencer Castleberry.

Her life was characterized by resilience, kindness, and a deep devotion to the Lord and her family. Dorothy will be remembered for her nurturing nature, her joyful laughter, and the countless moments spent with her loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Dorothy’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring her spirit of giving and compassion. Dorothy Gordy will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
