Funeral services for Mr. Earl Arthur, age 87, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, with Bro. Mike Honzell officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral service. Mr. Arthur was born on March 12, 1930 along with his twin sister, Merril Blake, to Howard and Etna Arthur in Florien, LA and passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in his home in Natchitoches, LA. He was the oldest living deacon and a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church until his health prevented regular attendance. He was an Air Force Veteran, delivered the Shreveport Times, and drove a school bus for the Natchitoches Parish School board. He loved God, family, fishing, and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Knotts Arthur; his twin sister, Merril Arthur Blake of Many, LA; his sons, Dennis and wife Jennifer of Natchitoches, Rodney and his wife Jackie, of Shreveport and daughter, Karen of Natchitoches; five grandchildren Amanda Arthur, Brian Arthur and wife Amber, of Austin, TX, Kelli Arthur Maggio and her husband Drew of Shreveport, Kayla Arthur Terrell and her husband Dane of Natchitoches, and Ashley Arthur Laird and her husband John of Shreveport; six great-grandchildren Madisyn and Cayden Maggio and William, Sydney, SaraBeth, and Caroline Terrell. Mr. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Etna Arthur, and sister Ruth Manning. Pallbearers will be Brandon Knotts, Johnny Blake, Brian Arthur, Drew Maggio, Johnny Manning, and Dane Terrell. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Pam, Bonita, Annette, Deborah, and Hospice of Natchitoches. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, or any charity of your choice.
