Edgar "Eddie" Johnson, Sr.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Edgar “Eddie” Johnson, Sr. will be at 2 pm Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. T.J. Boyd and Bro. Wayne Hicks officiating.  Interment will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.  The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Eddie, 81 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 30, 1937, to Herman and Eva Johnson in Albany, LA.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Pierce, Curtis, Louis, Robert, Helen, and Charlene; and his father and mother in law, George and Viola Cormane. Eddie was a Christian man who loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.  His relationship with God was the most important thing in his life and a close second was the love he had for his family.  He was an excellent provider and shared his love for his God with everyone in his family.  For many years he served Calvary Baptist Church as a Deacon.  He was a welder by trade and his work afforded him the opportunity to travel the world.  At the end of every job, he always looked forward to returning home and spending time with family and friends.  Eddie had the gift of telling stories about his life experiences and he especially enjoyed sharing them with his children and grandchildren.  He achieved the level of 32nd Degree Mason and valued the relationships he formed with his fellow Masons.  He will forever be loved and missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillie Cormane Johnson; children, Eve Bryant and husband Jim Bryant of Natchitoches, Becky Collins and husband Dr. Tim Collins of Natchitoches, and Jim Johnson and wife Jackie Johnson of Matthews, NC; siblings, Larry and Lydia; grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Isaac, Rebecca, Nathan, Charlie, and Alex; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members that loved him dearly. His grandchildren are honored to serve as pallbearers. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Lagniappe Home Health for their precious care of Eddie.
